gentle splash of yellow

I am adoring the soft shade of yellow. I used to be all about pink and purple but there is a rainbow of options out there!
Like robin's egg blue and seafoam green! What splendid names!
For now let's celebrate this sunny hue and these beautiful pictures from desire to inspire.

brock is my unicorn

My week has consisted of spending quality time with Boo and collecting used childrens' books featuring the illustrations of Eloise Wilkins. Her pictures really express the innocence and sweet playfulness of children in everyday life. They are simply delicious to look at. She contributed to over 20 books starting from the 1940s.
Here are some of my favorite images.

On a side note much has been said this week about hope, unity, change, and other things presidential. I believe that hope and change are personal and only come if we ask for it from within ourselves. We always have the choice to be positive or negative. And change can come at anytime and under any circumstance. I think it is silly to wait for the right moment and wake up one day and "decide" things will be different. Instead do your best everyday, don't fret over what others are doing, and choose to think and act positive.
For those of you who have chosen to be negative, ugly and mean these past few years-
Shame on you!
You didn't unite the country you chose to make it worse. Learn from your mistakes and learn to be more tolerant of those who think different of you.
My mom wisely said that the "loudest people are the most heard". That is so true and often times they are just plain obnoxious. I will do my best to ignore the ignorant, petty, naysayers and quietly
"do my best".
Brock is my unicorn and nothing else matters.

filled with gratitude

I am feeling nostalgic and grateful tonight.
I love my country, my family, my baby, and of course Texas.
The past few years I have been blessed, happy, healthy.
Tonight Joe and I contentedly agreed that we have both flourished.
Here's to the road ahead.....

dreamy room

These pics are from the desire to inspire blog created by Ludwig Designs and they do inspire me. Our bedroom is currently purplish and referred to as the Unicorn Room for obvious reasons but I like the dreamy and pastel mood of this room. A little Marie Antoinette-ish with the vintage furnishings and the soft colors. I love the silhouettes and plan on doing some of my family. I also like the donkey-a whimsical although slightly unhygienic touch-but I would have used a miniature horse...

I don't think words are needed for these amazing pictures from Texas! What a special state we live in when you can see real longhorns on the street mixing in with us.....
These beauties were found in the Ft. Worth Stockyards y'all.

a new year

I don't believe in new years resolutions.
If you want to make a change in your life you should start immediately and not decide to just because it is January.

I do believe in:
a heavenly father watching over us
unicorns
soul mates
good prevails over evil
always following your heart
sometimes the only thing standing in our way is ourselves
homemade blueberry waffles
when you are done dreaming you are done
a spoonful of sugar makes the medicine go down
sometimes reality is better then a daydream
we can make tomorrow better then today
babies are blessings
and grandparents always have time for you even when everyone else is too busy

may 2009 be happy, healthy and magical
